Luas activity

I've been thinking I'd like to make a piece which uses the fact that the luas passes by and stops so regularly. Maybe for it to spell out a phrase or something. Not sure we'll see. I like the rythm of it.

Yeah definitely. It's the gallery's defining feature in a lot of ways.

I keep wanting to bring the luas into the loo as well. All those people gazing in ... there isn't enough therapy in the world to get to the bottom (!) of that one.

Are we gonna do some collaborative stuff in response to the venue, or will we keep it all "everyone for themselves"?

It might be nice to do something quite simple. I was thinking of videoing the luases as they pass and have someone inside with a page which different words or parts of sentences which spell out a sentence in time. So people never get the whole sentence unless they stay in the gallery all day. But maybe we could just hold up boards and communicate different things to the luas inhabitants (pictures/words). It would give us something to do as well!

I like the idea of getting people in the piece to go on the Luas and be filmed going past ... I had been noodling around the idea of a clown on the Luas. Not doing anything, just in the carriage, in the crowd, and maybe looking in at the gallery, as most people seem to do anyway.

I wonder if the Luas authorities would get wise to us if we had a stream of people hopping on at Smithfield and off at Museum with placards (not to mention the clown) ...
